Columns

“Columns” is an abstract series of wall mounted plywood sculptures.

This was my first series after my initial experimentation with carving plywood and as such I wanted this my first series to look visually coherent as a unit. Which I achieved by standardising the size of the pieces and by using the same carving technique for all the pieces.

I intentionally chose the proportions of this series, to create a sense of elegance. Similar to columns of old found throughout Europe, which are proportionally tall and slim.
